BODY: Crypto is back, and this time Nintendo's newest console is the target. THQ Nordic released Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17. Players can once again tear up 1960s Earth with alien weapons, psychic powers and a flying saucer.

Reprobed is a remake of the 2006 PS2 and Xbox game. It first came out in 2022, and the Switch 2 version joins the existing releases on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.com), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Set in 1969, the campaign sends the alien invader Crypto across America, Britain, the Soviet Union, Japan and even the Moon, with Cold War paranoia and B-movie parody at every stop.

The Switch 2 edition comes with two DLC packs already included. The Reprobed: Skin Pack adds 10 skins for Crypto and 4 for his flying saucer. The Challenge Accepted DLC adds four multiplayer modes for up to four players: Rampage, Race, Armageddon and Abduction, played across six maps.

The Japan stage is the one that stands out. Crypto lands on Takoshima, a made-up island, and fights a giant monster called "Kojira." The name barely disguises Toho's most famous creation. It fits the game's style, which mocks almost every pop-culture myth of the era.

The insider take

For Japanese players, Reprobed is less a re-release than a first chance to play. The 2006 original was only sold in Western markets and never reached Japan, even though its whole Japan chapter is built on kaiju films and Showa-era clichés. The 2022 remake was the first time most players here could see how a Western studio pictured their country, and the Switch 2 version should reach a much bigger audience. The name "Takoshima" roughly means "Octopus Island," and "Kojira" is close to "Gojira," Godzilla's Japanese name. Local players will catch both jokes instantly. Switch 2 owners are the market here most likely to try an offbeat Western title like this, so this port may be the version that finally finds Crypto a real fanbase in Japan.
