BODY: Final Fantasy's mobile brawlers are stepping out of your phone and into Japan's arcades. From August 8 through August 30, Taito is running a nationwide collaboration between Square Enix's boss-raid team battler Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy and its own Taito Station arcade chain.
The campaign spans three venue types: Taito Station arcades across the country, the crepe stands attached to select locations, and every branch of EXBAR TOKYO plus, Taito's entertainment-bar concept. Each will roll out themed collaboration menu items alongside a lineup of exclusive Dissidia Duellum goods.
Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is Square Enix's free-to-play Android and iOS title built around cooperative, boss-slaying team battles that pull characters from across the Final Fantasy series—a modern spin on the fan-favorite Dissidia arena fighters. Tying a digital game to physical arcade floors is a familiar Taito playbook, and it gives the app a real-world touchpoint to court both lapsed Dissidia fans and curious walk-ins.
Taito has yet to fully detail the menu and merchandise lineup, but past collaborations at these venues have leaned on character-themed drinks, food plating, and limited-run acrylic stands, badges, and coasters—often with bonus items for guests who spend above a set threshold.
The insider take
Taito Station collabs are a quiet fixture of the Tokyo game-culture calendar, and the choice of venues here is telling. EXBAR TOKYO plus and the arcade-adjacent crepe stands are exactly where Square Enix's core mobile audience—twenty- and thirty-somethings who grew up on Dissidia—already spends weekend evenings. Bundling a phone game with a physical hangout is less about arcade cabinets and more about giving a live-service title the kind of shareable, photo-friendly moment that keeps it circulating on Japanese social media. Expect the acrylic goods to sell out first.
