BODY: The wolves are heading to Nintendo's newest hardware โ and they're bringing some familiar delinquents along for the ride.
During the September 9 Nintendo Direct, SNK announced that Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. The digital version launches October 22, while players who prefer boxed games can look forward to a physical edition slated for January 2027.
The bigger surprise came with the game's roadmap. In Season Pass 3, City of the Wolves will welcome two guest fighters from Tokyo Revengers, the hit manga and anime franchise: Manjiro "Mikey" Sano and Ken "Draken" Ryuguji. The pairing of a hardcore fighting-game legacy with a mainstream delinquent drama is exactly the kind of unexpected crossover that gets fans talking.
City of the Wolves originally launched earlier in 2025 to a strong reception, reviving the long-dormant Fatal Fury line with modern netcode and a striking art style. Bringing it to the Switch 2 opens the door to a far larger audience โ and lands SNK's flagship fighter on Nintendo hardware capable of running it properly.
The Tokyo Revengers collaboration, meanwhile, signals SNK's continued strategy of drawing in players who might never otherwise pick up a technical 2D fighter, following earlier guest appearances from figures like Ken Omega and even real-world icons.
The insider take
From Tokyo, this move reads as SNK playing to the home crowd. Tokyo Revengers was a genuine cultural phenomenon here โ its manga sold tens of millions of copies and its Shibuya-adjacent delinquent aesthetic is instantly recognizable to Japanese audiences. Slotting Mikey and Draken into a homegrown fighting franchise isn't just fan service; it's a savvy bid to bridge the gap between anime devotees and the notoriously niche fighting-game community. And with Switch 2 riding enormous domestic hype, timing the port to Nintendo's ecosystem could give City of the Wolves the mainstream visibility it has quietly deserved.
