BODY: A fox-eared heroine, a battle-ready panda, and a menagerie of animal-spirit warriors are about to storm the Chinese zodiac—together, if you bring friends.
Publisher Clouded Leopard Entertainment announced on August 27 that 13Z, a roguelike action title developed by Mixed Realms, will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on January 14, 2027. The game supports co-op play for up to four players.
As the title's "十三座" (Thirteen Constellations) suggests, 13Z builds its structure around the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, adding a thirteenth to complete the set. Players take control of anthropomorphic characters—including the fox-eared girl and panda highlighted in the announcement—and battle through a gauntlet of zodiac-themed trials, gathering power and upgrades in classic roguelike fashion across each run.
The roguelike genre thrives on repeatable runs and escalating builds, and 13Z leans into drop-in cooperative chaos, letting a full party of four tackle the zodiac's challenges side by side. Each character brings a distinct visual identity rooted in East Asian mythology, giving the game a stylistic hook that sets it apart from the wave of Western-flavored roguelikes.
Clouded Leopard Entertainment, a Taiwan-based publisher active in the Japanese market, has been steadily bringing region-flavored titles to console audiences, and 13Z fits that mold neatly.
The insider take
Clouded Leopard has quietly become one of the more reliable bridges between smaller Asian studios and Japanese console shelves, and 13Z is a telling pick. Launching on Switch 2—still riding strong momentum in Japan—alongside PS5 signals confidence that the zodiac hook and cute-but-capable character designs will resonate with the domestic couch co-op crowd, where roguelikes remain a comparatively underserved niche. A January release also dodges the crowded year-end rush, giving a mid-sized title room to breathe in Japan's post-holiday lull.
