BODY: The demon school is swapping blazers for pinstripes. On Tuesday, the official site for Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: If Episode of Mafia β€” the "IruMafia" spin-off of hiroja's hit Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun β€” unveiled a key visual alongside its full production lineup, confirming a January 4, 2027 premiere on NHK-G at 11:00 p.m.

Tatsunoko Production is handling animation, with Keiichirou Kawaguchi (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou) directing and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta!) on series composition. Kenji Fujisaki (Blood Lad) is adapting the character designs, Baochong Wang (Handa-kun) serves as art director, and Chiho Nakamura (Youjo Senki) handles color design. Fumito Nanba (Summer Pockets) is director of photography, Yayoi Sekimukai composes the score, and Hozumi Gouda (Isekai Shoukan wa Nidome desu) directs sound. NHK Enterprises and NHK are credited on production.

The source manga, a hiroja-drawn alternate-universe take that recasts the Babyls cast inside an underworld syndicate, has run in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shounen Champion since September 2023. Its ninth volume hit shelves on October 7. No voice cast has been announced yet β€” a notable gap, given how closely fans associate the parent series with its established ensemble.

The insider take

The scheduling detail is the one Tokyo trade-watchers will circle. The main Iruma-kun anime built its audience on NHK's educational channel in a family-friendly weekend slot; moving the spin-off to NHK General at 11:00 p.m. signals a deliberate repositioning toward the late-night demographic that drives Blu-ray and streaming revenue. Pair that with the handoff to Tatsunoko Production β€” a studio with its own long institutional history rather than the parent series' production home β€” and this reads less like a side dish and more like NHK testing whether the Iruma brand can carry a second, older-skewing franchise lane. The absence of cast news so far suggests the broadcaster is holding that reveal as its own news beat, likely closer to autumn 2026.
