BODY: The wait for one of Shonen Jump's most explosive recent hits just got a little easier to bear. On Friday, the official website for the Kagurabachi television anime revealed two new cast members alongside fresh character promotional videos, giving fans another glimpse at the world of Takeru Hokazono's swordsmanship thriller ahead of its Spring 2027 premiere.
Voice actress Miku Itou, best known for playing Miku Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets, joins as Hinao. Alongside her, Miyari Nemoto — recently seen in Ruri no Houseki (Ruri Rocks) — takes on the role of Char Kyounagi. Both additions arrive with their own promotional videos, a now-standard rollout tactic designed to keep anticipation simmering across the long runway to broadcast.
The production team continues to look stacked. Tetsuya Takeuchi, whose credits include Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan (Reincarnated Into a Demon Villainess), is directing the series at studio Cypic. Character designs come from Keigo Sasaki, an animator known for his work on The Seven Deadly Sins.
Kagurabachi follows Chihiro, a young swordsmith seeking vengeance for his father's murder using enchanted blades. The manga became a genuine phenomenon after its 2023 debut, riding a wave of internet memes into legitimate commercial success — a rare case of ironic hype curdling into the real thing.
The insider take
From Tokyo, the steady drip of cast announcements this far out from a Spring 2027 airdate signals how much Shueisha is banking on Kagurabachi as a tentpole property. The meme-fueled origin story is well-known here, but industry watchers note the anime's real test will be translating Hokazono's sharp, kinetic action into motion — the very quality that made the manga stand out. Casting proven talent like Itou suggests the production isn't leaving that momentum to chance.
