BODY: The psychological cat-and-mouse of Liar Game is drawing more talent into its web of deception. The official website for the television anime adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani's cult-favorite manga unveiled a fresh batch of cast members on Tuesday, deepening the ensemble behind one of this season's most cerebral thrillers.

Leading the new additions is Daisuke Namikawa, familiar to genre fans from Trigun Stargaze, who takes on the role of Solario. He is joined by Yuuya Uchida (Koujo Denka no Kateikyoushi) as Shou Kikuchi and Hiroko Ushida (Tonari no Youkai-san) as Tadako Kousaka.

Rounding out the announcement are Minoru Shiraishi (Nippon Sangoku) voicing Yuuichi Nishida and Asami Kawano, previously known as assistant director on Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu, joining the voice cast as well.

The anime series premiered on April 7 at 12:00 a.m. on TV Tokyo, with a subsequent broadcast on BS TV Tokyo. Adapted from Kaitani's long-running manga about an elaborate tournament of high-stakes lies and psychological warfare, the series continues to expand its roster as the games grow more intricate.

The insider take

Here in Tokyo, the late-night TV Tokyo slot is where studios quietly cultivate their most ambitious adaptations, and Liar Game fits the pattern perfectly. Casting Daisuke Namikawa — a veteran whose voice carries both menace and charm — signals that the production wants its manipulators to feel genuinely dangerous rather than cartoonish. Industry watchers in the Kanto region will also note the interesting move of bringing an assistant director like Asami Kawano into the voice booth, a crossover that has become increasingly common as Japanese studios blur the lines between production and performance. It's a small but telling detail of how anime talent pipelines are evolving in 2026.
