BODY: Four years in, Goddess of Victory: NIKKE still knows how to work a crowd. At Saturday's anniversary broadcast โ staged under the banner "To the Promised Land: The Goddesses Assemble" โ Shift Up pulled the curtain back on Rapunzel: Sanctuary, a new version of one of the game's most quietly beloved healers, voiced in Japanese by Suzuko Mimori.
She lands after the October 29 update, which puts her squarely inside the anniversary window when free pulls and login rewards are at their most generous.
The pitch is a support unit that refuses to stay in its lane: Rapunzel: Sanctuary restores allied HP while simultaneously raising the squad's offensive output. In a roster where healers often trade damage for survivability, a unit that does both is the kind of thing players start theorycrafting around before the kit is even fully detailed. Expect her to show up fast in Union Raid and Solo Raid compositions, where sustain and damage buffs decide whether a boss timer gets beaten.
The "Sanctuary" suffix follows NIKKE's established naming pattern for alternate versions โ think Rapunzel: Pure Grace โ units that share a character's face and voice but function as entirely separate pulls. It's a monetization pattern Japanese players have long since made peace with, and one that lets the studio keep expanding its most popular characters without inventing new ones.
Full skill numbers, banner dates and pull rates typically land in the official notice a day or two ahead of the update.
The insider take
Japan is not an afterthought for NIKKE โ it's arguably the title's commercial center of gravity, and the casting reflects that. Suzuko Mimori is a genuine heavyweight here: a Milky Holmes alumna and the original voice of Umi Sonoda in Love Live!, she carries name recognition that extends well past the gacha audience into idol-anime fandom proper. Dropping her into an anniversary reveal is a deliberate signal to the domestic market, not just a localization footnote. Anniversary season in Tokyo also means Akihabara promotional tie-ins and a brief flood of character goods โ if past years hold, Rapunzel: Sanctuary merchandise will be on shelves before most Western players finish rolling for her.
