BODY: The Regalia is getting another road trip. Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV's crossover event with Final Fantasy XV, "A Nocturne for Heroes," returns from around 17:00 JST on September 24, bringing Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum back to the realm of Eorzea for another limited run.
The event first debuted in 2019 as a rare piece of cross-title fan service between two Final Fantasy games that otherwise share almost nothing but a name. Noctis arrives in Eorzea after a mishap involving his car, and the Warrior of Light gets dragged into a monster hunt alongside him. It's brief, it's silly, and it remains one of the few times the mainline single-player series and the MMO have shared screen time.
The headline reward is the Regalia — a four-seater mount that lets you drive three friends around Eorzea's open zones in Noctis's black luxury sedan, complete with the FFXV soundtrack playing as you go. Party mounts remain scarce in FFXIV, and the Regalia is still one of the most recognizable status symbols in the game seven years on. Additional cosmetic rewards from the original run are also expected to be available.
Players will need to meet the event's level and story requirements to participate, and as with all FFXIV seasonal and collaboration content, the event runs for a limited window before disappearing again.
The insider take
Re-runs like this one say a lot about how Square Enix manages FFXIV's long tail. In Japan, the community treats collaboration mounts as semi-permanent hardware — the Regalia, the Yo-kai Watch weapons, the Monster Hunter gear — and the periodic revival schedule functions as a quiet returning-player hook, timed here to land just as players who lapsed after the last major patch are looking for a reason to resubscribe. There's a bittersweet edge to it too: with FFXV's development saga long since closed and its studio dissolved, Eorzea has become one of the few places Noctis still reliably shows up. For Japanese fans, that's less a marketing beat than a small act of preservation.
