BODY: Fans of the chaotic Matsuno sextuplets have a fresh reason to head back to theaters. The live-action film "Osomatsu-san: Jinrui Kuzuka Keikaku!!!!!?" (Operation Turn Humanity Into Trash!!!!!?), now screening nationwide, has announced a limited run of special audio-commentary screenings starring its own cast.
From June 26 to July 31, audiences can watch the film with a bonus audio track featuring Johnny's-affiliated idol group Aぇ! group alongside Takuya Nishimura of Kansai Junior. The group's members — including Keita Kusama Richard, who stars in the film — and Nishimura play the six brothers, and the commentary promises the same irreverent banter that defines the franchise.
Alongside the screening news, a portion of newly filmed musical footage hit YouTube for the first time. The clips spotlight Miho Watanabe as the beloved Totoko and Iori Noguchi (of idol group =LOVE) as Nyaa Hashimoto, two characters central to the "Osomatsu-san" universe's running gags about fame and idol culture.
The original "Osomatsu-san" began as a 2015 anime reboot of Fujio Akatsuko's 1960s manga "Osomatsu-kun," reinventing the childhood characters as feckless adult NEETs. Its self-aware humor and parody of idol fandom made it a surprise breakout hit, and the live-action adaptation leans hard into that meta sensibility by casting real idols as the layabout brothers.
The insider take
In Japan, "副音声上映" (audio-commentary screenings) are a clever, low-cost way to pull devoted fans back for a second or third viewing — and for an idol-led project like this, they're catnip. Hearing Aぇ! group riff over their own performances turns a movie ticket into a quasi-fan-event, the kind of value-add that drives the repeat-attendance economics behind so many Japanese idol films. Casting =LOVE's Noguchi as an in-universe idol only tightens the wink.
