BODY: Fans of Persona 3 Portable have waited a long time for this. Kotone Shiomi (汐見琴音), the game's female protagonist, is joining the mobile and PC RPG Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X), and a special movie for the crossover is out now.
The collab is timed to the Persona series' 30th anniversary on September 20, 2026. That's 30 years since Revelations: Persona came out in 1996. Kotone goes live with the game's September 24 update, and the Japanese version is on iOS, Android and PC.
She isn't a reused asset. Kotone has a brand-new 3D model made for P5X, and her arrival comes with arranged versions of music from P3P. The special movie teases how she enters P5X's story, which follows a new group of Phantom Thieves.
The Tokyo-side hype has already started. From September 15, three characters from the earlier Persona 3 Reload collab are back on the "PICKUP怪ドル契約" (pickup banner): Makoto Yuki, Yukari Takeba and Akihiko Sanada. Their original collab story is still playable, so newer players can catch up before Kotone arrives.
The insider take
This matters to Japanese fans for a specific reason. Kotone first appeared in the 2009 PSP release of P3P. When Persona 3 Reload came out in 2024, her route wasn't in it, and many longtime fans still bring that up online. For that crowd, seeing her fully rebuilt in 3D for an anniversary event feels like making things right, not just another banner. In Japan, gacha collabs tied to big anniversaries also tend to set a game's revenue peaks. Putting the returning P3R trio on a banner a week before Kotone arrives is a familiar strategy: get players spending early, then give them the headline character. Whether she comes to the global version of P3P, and when, hasn't been announced. But based on how past collabs went, Western players will probably be asking for her soon.
