BODY: Barbie's Dreamhouse is about to get a very thorough cleaning. UK studio FuturLab announced on September 15, 2026 that PowerWash Simulator 2 is getting a new piece of downloadable content, the "Barbie Pack," due out before the end of 2026.
The DLC is a collaboration with Mattel, the American toymaker behind Barbie. It adds five new jobs based on Barbie playsets. Where the base game has you scrubbing muddy driveways and grimy vehicles, these stages swap in the bright pastels and plastic-toy look of Barbie's world. The pack will cost $7.99.
This isn't FuturLab's first licensed crossover. The original PowerWash Simulator built a steady stream of add-ons on pop culture partnerships, turning well-known places and vehicles from films, games and cartoons into grime-covered cleaning jobs. The Barbie Pack continues that approach in the sequel. It also aims at a slightly different crowd: players who like cozy, low-stress games and may be more drawn to a pink convertible than a mud-caked tractor.
FuturLab hasn't given an exact release date yet. Platform-specific details and regional pricing, including a yen price for Japanese players, weren't part of the first announcement. The news was picked up quickly by Japanese outlets like 4Gamer.net, which says the series has a real following in Japan.
The insider take
In Japan, Barbie has always been a bit of an outsider. The fashion-doll market here has long belonged to Takara Tomy's Licca-chan, a homegrown doll that has been around since 1967 and is designed to look more like a Japanese schoolgirl. Barbie is known mostly as an American pop icon, and the 2023 movie made it more of a fashion and nostalgia brand than a toy-aisle rival. That's what makes this DLC fit well. PowerWash Simulator has quietly done well with Japanese players, who seem to enjoy "satisfying" games that feel like a calm puzzle, and pairing it with Barbie's toybox look plays to Japan's big appetite for kawaii design and brand collaborations. Don't be surprised if people start asking whether a Licca-chan pack could be next.
