BODY: Street Fighter 6 isn't slowing down. Capcom has just laid out the release schedule for its Year 4 character roster, giving the fighting-game faithful a calendar to circle—and a fresh face to start theorizing about.
Leading the charge is Yasmin, an all-new addition to the World Warriors. Capcom has pinned her arrival to August 3, making her the first of the Year 4 batch to enter the ring across all platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.
Beyond Yasmin, Capcom also confirmed the rough timing for the rest of the Year 4 lineup—most notably the guest fighters drawn from outside the Street Fighter universe. The release windows mean players can now plan their Fighter Pass purchases and lab time around when each character actually drops, rather than guessing from teasers.
The headline guest, of course, is Tifa, whose crossover appearance continues Capcom's recent appetite for high-profile collaborations. Her release timing was announced alongside the others, though she lands later in the cycle than Yasmin.
The insider take
From a Tokyo vantage point, the staggered Year 4 schedule reflects how central Street Fighter 6 has become to Capcom's live-service strategy—the company treats each character drop as a tentpole event, timed to keep the competitive scene and casual players engaged through the year. The decision to lead with an original character like Yasmin before rolling out a marquee guest like Tifa is a calculated move: it lets the in-house cast establish its own identity in tournament play before the crossover hype takes over. With Switch 2 now in the platform mix, Capcom is clearly betting that SF6's audience will keep expanding well beyond the hardcore FGC base.
