BODY: SNK's long-awaited comeback fighter is heading to Nintendo's newest hardware. During the "Nintendo Direct 2026.9.9" broadcast, the company confirmed that Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026.
Originally released in spring 2025 on other platforms, City of the Wolves marked the first new entry in the Fatal Fury / Garou series in over a quarter century. Its arrival on Switch 2 puts one of SNK's flagship revivals in the hands of Nintendo players for the first time, riding the momentum of the new console's early software push.
The headline surprise, though, is a crossover with Tokyo Revengers โ the wildly popular manga and anime about time-traveling delinquents and warring biker gangs. SNK confirmed the collaboration will be implemented in the game, folding one of Japan's biggest recent youth-culture properties into its roster of neo-brawlers roaming the fictional South Town.
The pairing is less random than it first appears. Fatal Fury has always traded in street-fighting swagger and gang rivalries, and Tokyo Revengers' aesthetic of leather, loyalty, and back-alley showdowns slots neatly into that world. SNK has leaned hard on crossovers to keep City of the Wolves in the conversation since launch, and an anime tie-in this recognizable is aimed squarely at broadening the audience beyond fighting-game diehards.
The insider take
From Tokyo, this feels like a calculated late-cycle play. SNK โ now backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth via its parent company โ has the resources to chase high-profile licenses, and Tokyo Revengers is exactly the kind of IP that moves units with lapsed and casual fans here. Launching on Switch 2 in October also drops the game into the crucial pre-holiday window, where a portable fighter with an anime hook can punch well above its weight in a market that still prizes handheld play. Expect SNK to keep the crossover pipeline running well into 2027.
