BODY: For a generation of RPG fans, Terranigma โ known in Japan as Tenchi Sลzล ("Creation of Heaven and Earth") โ has been the great one that got away. Now Clear River Games is finally resurrecting the 1995 Super Famicom classic, with a remastered version due in early 2027.
The port is coming to Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC. Domestic packaged-version publishing in Japan will be handled by PLAION, while Clear River Games leads the broader release. Crucially, original character designer and manga artist Kamui Fujiwara is providing full cooperation on the project โ a signal that this revival wants to honor the source material rather than simply upscale it.
Developed by Quintet and originally published by Enix, Terranigma was the final chapter in the studio's loose "Soul" trilogy following Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. It followed the boy Ark on a journey to literally resurrect the world, blending fast action-RPG combat with an unusually melancholic, philosophical story about creation, evolution, and loss โ themes that still feel ambitious three decades later.
The remaster's headline appeal is simple: accessibility. Terranigma launched near the end of the Super Famicom's life and was localized only for PAL territories in Europe and Australia โ never officially released in North America.
