BODY: After more than a decade on phones and browsers, the men of 315 Production are finally coming to consoles.
Bandai Namco Entertainment and D3 Publisher announced the first home console game project for The Idolm@ster SideM. The news came on September 13 during Day 2 of "THE IDOLM@STER SideM 11th STAGE ~EVER EVER@FTER~," the franchise's anniversary concert. The game is in active development for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. No title, release date, or gameplay details have been shared yet.
SideM started in 2014 as the male-idol branch of the Idolm@ster series. Its story centers on 315 Production, an agency whose idols come from other careers first: former lawyers, doctors, teachers, and pro athletes who decided to chase the stage. That hook, plus a large cast and an active voice-actor concert schedule, built a devoted following. Until now, though, the games all lived on mobile and web platforms. Other Idolm@ster branches have had console releases over the years.
D3 Publisher is a Bandai Namco group company, best known in the West for the Earth Defense Force series. Its role as co-publisher suggests a dedicated team within the wider Bandai Namco family is handling the project. A Switch 2 and Switch release also points to a wide install base in Japan, where Nintendo hardware dominates.
International fans shouldn't expect localization news yet. Most Idolm@ster console titles have stayed in Japan or received limited Asian-language releases. Still, fan communities overseas are already hoping for an English version.
The insider take
In Tokyo, SideM fans (known as "Producers") have spent years watching the female-idol branches get most of the console attention. That's why the reveal got such a big reaction inside the venue. Announcing it on Day 2 of the anniversary stage is a classic Bandai Namco move: the franchise's biggest news goes out live, in front of the most committed fans, before any press release. Nintendo platforms also matter here. SideM's audience is largely women, many of whom play on Switch rather than PlayStation, so this choice looks aimed squarely at the fanbase. Expect more details to come through official livestreams in the months ahead, likely with cast appearances.
