BODY: If you've been waiting for an excuse to finally play the Mana series — Square Enix's long-running action-RPG line that Japanese players still call Seiken Densetsu — Nintendo just made it cheap.
Nintendo has added three Switch entries in the series to the ongoing "Square Enix OCTOBER SALE" on the Japanese Nintendo Store. All three are marked down 65 percent: Collection of Mana at ¥1,848, Trials of Mana at ¥2,302, and Legend of Mana at ¥1,232. The sale ends at 23:59 JST on October 21.
That's a fairly complete on-ramp to the series in one go. Collection of Mana bundles the first three games, including the Super Famicom's Seiken Densetsu 3, which went unreleased in English for over two decades. Trials of Mana is the 2020 full 3D remake of that same game, and Legend of Mana is the 2021 HD remaster of the 1999 PlayStation entry with its hand-painted, puzzle-box world map.
The Mana titles are part of a wider Square Enix promotion running the same dates. Also discounted: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Digital Deluxe Edition at 75 percent off for ¥1,775, and Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! at 65 percent off for ¥2,112.
The insider take
Two things worth knowing. First, these are Japanese Nintendo Store prices, which means a Japanese Nintendo Account and yen-denominated funds — with the yen where it is, that's an unusually good deal for anyone who already has a JP account, but it isn't a discount you can simply click through from a Western store page. Second, note the headline on the original article: Rejemana. Japanese gamers compress everything, and the Mana series has a whole informal vocabulary — Seiken 3 for the Super Famicom original, Rejemana for Legend of Mana, Toramana for Trials. Spotting those abbreviations in a Japanese store listing or on social media is a quick way to tell which entry people are actually talking about, since the official English titles split the series into names that look unrelated.
