BODY: Nintendo's quietly running experiment in resurrecting its most infamous console just got a serious content boost. On May 14, the company added six new titles to Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics, the retro library exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
The new lineup includes V-TETRIS, the puzzle classic reimagined for the red-and-black 3D display; Jack Bros., an early Atlus-developed action title that has become one of the most collectible Virtual Boy cartridges; Galactic Pinball; Panic Bomber; Vertical Force; and Virtual Bowling, a Japan-only release that originally commanded eye-watering prices on the secondhand market.
The titles can be played on Nintendo Switch 2 with optional support for the new Virtual Boy-style accessory Nintendo announced earlier this year, or on the original Switch in standard flat-screen mode. The stereoscopic depth that defined the 1995 hardware is recreated through software emulation rather than the original LED parallax system.
The expansion brings the total Virtual Boy Classics catalog to a notable chunk of the console's roughly 20-title commercial library—meaning subscribers are now closer than ever to having near-complete access to a console that sold so poorly Nintendo discontinued it within a year of launch.
