BODY: Vampire Survivors proved that a single button and a thousand enemies can be enough. Now Games Workshop's grimdark universes are getting the same treatment โ€” at a price cheaper than a bowl of ramen in Shibuya.

Warhammer Survivors launches November 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, and iOS and Android. Developer Auroch Digital is asking $7.99 / ยฃ6.39 / โ‚ฌ7.49, and the game also arrives on Game Pass day one. A PC demo is available now.

The pitch is exactly what the name suggests: a fast-paced roguelite where you hold your ground against endless hordes drawn from multiple Warhammer factions, with weapon evolution, stacking power-ups, and meta progression that unlocks new characters, weapons, and abilities between runs. Crucially, Auroch isn't picking a side in the eternal 40K-versus-Fantasy debate โ€” the roster spans both.

Six playable heroes have been confirmed, including Malum Caedo, the Space Marine from Boltgun, and Neave Blacktalon, the Stormcast Eternal from Age of Sigmar, alongside Gotrek Gurnisson, Sharynn Azurwrath, Trooper Kozlowski, and Brother Luca. On the receiving end: Tyranids, Skaven, and other assorted horrors from across both settings.

The insider take

From Tokyo, the interesting variable here isn't the Warhammer license โ€” it's the shape of the release. Japan has a small but unusually devoted Warhammer scene, built around official Games Workshop stores in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya and a hobby culture that treats painting as seriously as play. But the tabletop's buy-in cost has always been the wall. A ยฅ1,000-ish digital roguelite that runs on a phone during the Yamanote Line commute is a very different proposition โ€” and it lands in the one genre Japanese players have already embraced wholesale, after Vampire Survivors became a word-of-mouth hit on Switch. Add simultaneous Switch 2 support in the market where Nintendo hardware dominates, and this looks less like a licensed cash-in and more like the most accessible on-ramp Warhammer has ever had in Japan. Whether the storefront listings get proper Japanese localization will decide how far that goes.
