BODY: Fans who have spent hundreds of hours guiding Rex and his Blades across the Cloud Sea have a new reason to return. Nintendo has revealed a pair of white-themed alternate outfits for Pyra and Mythra—known in Japan as Homura and Hikari—arriving with the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Xenoblade 2.
The two "new styles" swap the characters' signature reds and golds for a crisp, predominantly white color palette, giving the game's most iconic duo a fresh silhouette nearly a decade after their debut. Nintendo framed the reveal as one of several enhancements bundled into the upgraded port, which launches July 30, 2026.
Players will be able to earn the costumes through two routes. The first is by completing rewards tied to a new game mode called "Mercenary Squad Action," a fresh addition to the Switch 2 edition. The second is the classic route: tapping the Pyra and Mythra amiibo figures via the game's amiibo touch feature. Once unlocked, the outfits can be toggled against the originals at any time through the Options → Game Settings menu.
Xenoblade 2 first launched on the original Switch in December 2017, and it remains one of the console's defining JRPGs. This Switch 2 release continues Nintendo's steady effort to bring enhanced versions of Monolith Soft's sprawling series to its new hardware.
