Mojang and Microsoft Japan released the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft on October 28, 2026. The standard edition is ¥4,730, the Deluxe Collection ¥5,830 and the Ultimate Collection ¥7,370.
The Switch 2 version supports a new visual style called Vibrant Visuals, with lighting that responds to the direction of light, fog with a sense of depth, shadows that change over time and reflections on water surfaces. It also includes the Super Mario Mash-up Pack, with 15 music tracks and 40 player skins themed on the Super Mario series.
The Deluxe Collection adds three add-ons, three exclusive character creator items and 700 Minecoins; the Ultimate Collection includes five add-ons, five exclusive character creator items and 1,000 Minecoins. Owners of the download version of Minecraft on Nintendo Switch can buy the Switch 2 version for ¥100 in a campaign running until January 31, 2027.
The insider take
The shape of the world stays the same, but better light and shadow changes the mood of a cave or a torch-lit base. The ¥100 offer is for owners of the Switch download version, so it is worth checking which version you own.
