BODY: Aniplex spent Saturday's One Focus 2026 showcase handing out release dates, but one announcement carried more weight than its runtime suggested: Yukino Sonoyama's Bless is getting a television anime, and it is going straight into noitaminA.

The adaptation is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block at 11:30 p.m. Alongside the date, Aniplex released a teaser visual and a character promotional video β€” the format the studio increasingly favours over a full trailer at this stage, showing off voice performances and character designs before any meaningful animation is ready to show.

Tomohiro Ono, known for Tomodachi Game, voices Aia Udagawa. Chiyuki Miura, who appeared in Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu., plays Jun Sumisaki. Shoutarou Kitamura also joins the main cast. It is a notably young lineup for a noitaminA title, which historically leans on established names β€” a sign that the production is betting on the source material rather than marquee casting.

The Winter 2027 window puts Bless in what is typically one of the most crowded seasons of the anime calendar, with the New Year broadcast reshuffle pushing a wave of new titles into January at once. A late-night Fuji TV slot offers some insulation from that crush, though it also means a smaller nominal audience and a heavier reliance on streaming performance.

The insider take

noitaminA still means something in Tokyo, even after two decades of shifting fortunes. The block was built in 2005 to put anime in front of adults β€” and women in particular β€” who were not watching late-night genre shows, and it produced Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile and Psycho-Pass on that premise. Industry chatter here has spent years asking whether the brand still commands the prestige it did a decade ago, as streaming platforms flattened the value of any single broadcast slot. Aniplex clearly thinks it does: putting Bless there is a positioning statement, telling viewers this is a work that expects to be taken seriously rather than consumed and forgotten. Whether the show earns that framing is a question for January 2027.
