BODY: A protagonist who sets out to build a lazy harem life and instead gets completely outclassed by the women he "rescued" is coming to television. Kadokawa has announced a TV anime adaptation of Dorei kara no Kitai to Hyouka no Sei de Sakushu Dekinai no da ga — roughly, "I Can't Exploit My Slaves Because of Their Expectations and High Regard for Me" — by novelist Isogawa Maware.
The premise is a knowing inversion of a very tired formula. Allen, reincarnated with a goddess-granted healing cheat called Regeneration, buys and heals injured slave girls with the modest ambition of coasting. The problem: once restored, the women's own abilities are so overpowered, and their commercial instincts so sharp, that there is nothing left for him to actually do. The comedy runs on his increasing irrelevance — and on the uncomfortable gap between the word "slave" in the title and the warmth the cast clearly has for him.
The series began as a web novel on Kakuyomu, Kadokawa's user-submission platform, before moving to print under the Dengeki no Shinbungei imprint with illustrations by Heiroh. A manga adaptation drawn by Sachi Nishioka, using Heiroh's original character designs, has been serialized on Shonen Ace Plus and Comic Walker since 2023 and collected into several volumes.
Alongside the announcement, the production committee released what it is calling a "super ultra teaser visual" — the phrasing is a wink, and in keeping with the genre's recent habit of announcing loudly while revealing almost nothing. No studio, staff, cast, broadcast window, or streaming partner has been disclosed.
The insider take
This is the Kadokawa conveyor belt working exactly as designed: Kakuyomu as free audience testing, Dengeki no Shinbungei as the print filter for slightly older readers than the main Dengeki Bunko line, Comic Ace for the manga that builds visual recognition, then anime once the numbers hold. The interesting question from Tokyo is the overseas handling. There is no announced official English edition, and the title alone is a licensing headache — the word "slave" tends to get softened or rewritten in Western storefronts. Expect a lengthy, heavily reworded English title if a streamer picks it up, and expect the discourse about it to arrive long before the first episode does.
