BODY: Some manga wait their turn. Vampire Juujikai β published in English by Tokyopop as The Record of a Fallen Vampire β wrapped up its run back in 2007. Nearly twenty years later, it's getting an anime.
Production company Pony Canyon opened an official website for the television adaptation on Monday, unveiling the main casting pair, core staff, a teaser visual, and a teaser promo. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
Yuuma Uchida (Jujutsu Kaisen) voices Akabara Strauss, while Aino Shimada (Kakkou no Iinazuke) takes on Bridget Irving Frostheart β the two figures at the centre of the story's long, bitter conflict. Additional staff credits, including director and series composition, were announced alongside the site launch, with further cast expected to follow as the project moves toward its premiere window.
The original manga was written by Kyou Shirodaira with art by Yuri Kimura, running in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2003 to 2007 across nine volumes. Shirodaira is a familiar name to anime viewers through Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna and In/Spectre, and Vampire Juujikai carries the same fingerprint: a plot built on withheld information, where the reveal reframes everything that came before it.
The insider take
A 2027 date announced in late 2026 is a long runway by Japanese industry standards, and that's the detail worth noticing. Studios in Tokyo are currently booked solid β the capacity crunch means strong properties increasingly get announced early and slotted years out rather than rushed. Pony Canyon leading the announcement rather than a streaming platform also suggests a production-committee structure built around physical and music revenue, which is Pony Canyon's traditional strength. For a title this old, the gamble is generational: most of the audience that read Vampire Juujikai in Gangan is now in their thirties or forties, which is exactly the demographic with disposable income for Blu-ray boxes and concert tickets. Expect a careful, faithful adaptation aimed at people who already know the twist.
